James Martin “Jimmy” Groves
Mr. Groves graduated from Elkton High School in 1952 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Transylvania University in 1956. He also studied in the Graduate School at the University of Kentucky. In the Armed Forces, he served in the Headquarters, U.S. Army Security Agency, Europe, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Mr. Groves served as administrative aide to U.S. Representative Frank W. Burke. He served as Deputy Circuit Court Clerk in Todd County, then, from 1964-1998, he served as Circuit Court Clerk of Todd County. Twice he served as president of the Kentucky Association of Circuit Court Clerks, and extended his service to a wide array of public endeavors, including his directorship of the Kentucky Association of Counties. His selfless devotion to civic causes made him one of our best known citizens and public servants. He received the Distinguished Service award from his alma mater, Transylvania University. |
