During the 2021-2022 academic school year, Todd County Central High School started its own e-sports (electronic sports) team through the fall and spring of that year. Since then, the past two years have been filled with great challenges, competition, and gaming at TCCHS!
E-sports is an exciting opportunity for students to compete in a sport that goes beyond playing videogames. Students will practice weekly on campus in fiercely competitive, team-based videogames. Honing their individual and team gameplay, students will develop important life skills- teamwork, communication, critical thinking-while engaging in practices with fellow peers and sanctioned games against school districts across the country. Tournaments for sanctioned games are hosted on the PlayVS platform each Fall and Spring. These tournaments award scholarships based on students’ performance as individuals and a team. This does not include the hundreds of colleges that are actively recruiting high school athletes to their collegiate e-sports teams.
