Leila Chastain Cole

 

Mrs. Cole was a graduate of Trenton High School class of 1955. She graduated from Austin Peay State University in 1969 before beginning her career as a teacher in Guthrie, Trenton, and South Todd Elementary Schools. During her 30 year career, she planned and accompanied students to Washington DC, the Biltmore and Frankfort, KY as well as influenced numerous former students to enter the field of education. She served on the Trenton City Council, the Todd County Board of Health, Sanctuary House Board, Big Brothers-Big Sisters Board, the Board of United Way, and the first Site Based Council for South Todd Elementary School. She was also the Co-Founder of the Silver Triangle Main Street Corporation, a non-profit program dedicated to downtown revitalization and historic preservation in Elkton, Guthrie, and Trenton. She shared the love of community by securing the land for the beautiful Bradley Crusher Park located Trenton, Kentucky. This park is now dedicated to her memory.
