Three Todd County Central High School Juniors were honored recently by Berea College as Carter G. Woodson Legacy Scholars for outstanding accomplishments in the areas of academics, service and leadership. TCCHS Juniors Jason Brown, Zakiyyah Leavell and Jayla Leavell were selected as recipients to receive the Legacy Scholar Award.
The Legacy Scholar Award honors the late Dr. Carter G. Woodson, an esteemed alumnus of Berea. A respected historian, Woodson is known worldwide as “The Father of Black History. The Carter G. Woodson Legacy Scholar Award is named in his honor as a means of recognizing African-American high school juniors who have demonstrated outstanding character, academic achievement and leadership — as exemplified in the life of Dr. Woodson and the legacy of Berea College.
These students will be recognized and receive the scholarship, awarded at a banquet on Berea College Campus on March 28th, 2020.
