HOPFAME is the Hopkinsville chapter of the Kentucky Federation of Advanced Manufacturing Education (KYFAME), which is a partnership of regional manufacturers and Hopkinsville Community College who are working together to implement apprentice-style training to create a pipeline of highly-skilled workers.
HOPFAME students who complete the program will earn an Associate in Applied Science degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology / Advanced Manufacturing Technician in five consecutive semesters. Students are selected for participation after meeting academic requirements and completing an application and interview process. Participants attend class at Hopkinsville Community College two days each week and work for their sponsoring company three days a week giving them the opportunity to immediately apply higher education concepts to real-world work situations.
Twelve students have graduated from HCC’s KYFAME program, six in 2018 and six in 2019. The 15 students in the class of 2020 begin their fourth semester on August 20. The 15 students recognized in today’s ceremony make up the class of 2021 and begin classes on August 19. Mr. Edwin Oyler, Superintendent of Todd County Schools, was present to witness four TCCHS graduates at their commitment ceremony and signing on August 6, 2019.
