Dual Credit

Course Description

The Dual Credit Program is available to juniors and seniors only.  Dual Credit classes will be taken online at TCCHS during the school day.  A student who enrolls in these classes will not only earn credit in high school, but will also earn college credit through KCTCS at Hopkinsville Community College. Students must be enrolled in TWO courses each semester. Students will be responsible for their tuition, textbooks and other fees for each course taken. Students need to be self-motivated and they will need to have Internet access outside of school as the college calendar differs from the high school calendar. To enroll in dual credit, students must meet the requirements listed below, and submit the request during scheduling.

The requirements to take dual credit are a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 and an ACT score of at least 18 in ENGLISH and 20 in READING.

**For Fall 2020 we are aware that students may not be able to take the ACT prior to registration due to Covid-19.   Students meeting the high school GPA requirement of 3.0 may enroll in Dual Credit for the fall semester with a teacher recommendation.

There are very few courses that do not require benchmark in Reading and English on the ACT prior to enrollment. Students not meeting the minimum ACT requirements or who have not taken the ACT will take Sociology and their choice of either Music or Art for the fall semester. If you have met the benchmark scores for reading and English you will have more course options available.

Students who have not met the benchmark requirements will need to take the ACT at the earliest available opportunity so you will have ACT scores for Spring 2021 enrollment.

It is very important that you complete this now!!!! Students need to apply for admission at Hopkinsville Community College following the steps listed on the "HCC Application process- Step by Step" attachment. Once you have been enrolled send me an email at [email protected] with your student ID number, your user id and your password so I can get you enrolled in courses at HCC.  Please send this information as soon as possible as classes are filling up quickly!
