Frank Burnett Simpson

Frank Burnett Simpson was born 1919 in Leon County Texas.  He moved to attend Kentucky State University in 1938.  Frank graduatedFrank Burnett Simpson with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture prior to serving 4 years in the U.S. Army.

Frank earned a Master of Science Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Kentucky in 1956 and an Honorary Doctorate Degree in 1991.

Mr. Simpson’s career began as principal of Todd County Training High School then on to Attucks High School for a total of 21 years.

He was an assistant superintendent of Hopkinsville Independent and Jefferson County School Systems. 
Mr. Simpson then became the first black superintendent of the Jefferson County School System.

He served as president of both, Third District Teachers Association, KSU Alumni, as well as a member of KY Governor’s Commission on Higher Education. 

Mr. Simpson was a life member of NAACP and a Free Mason.
