Course Description
English I is the foundational course for the TCCHS English Language Arts program of study. In this course, students will learn literary analysis and writing skills necessary for continued study in ELA, as well as learning/relearning the fundamentals of grammar. This course is structured so that every nine week grading period is worth 1000 total points (meaning that every week the students will work towards 100 points through in-class activities, quizzes, tests, essays, and other assignments). At the conclusion of each nine weeks, the students will take a 100 point summative assessment that covers all of the material from the nine weeks.
