Welcome to the Todd County School District Gifted and Talented Website!
Our Gifted and Talented (GT) Program services students in 4th-12th grades who have been formally identified in the areas of General Intellectual, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Creativity, Leadership, or Visual/Performing Arts which include Art, Music, Drama, and Dance. Primary students who exhibit potential for giftedness in these areas are serviced through our Primary Talent Pool (PTP). Administrators, guidance counselors, teachers, and GT teachers all work together to meet the creative, intellectual, academic, social, and emotional needs of our gifted learners in accordance with 704 KAR 3:285. We continuously strive to provide our students with opportunities to think critically and creatively, problem solve, lead their peers, and practice the essential skills that are necessary to succeed in the 21st century. These essential skills include:

We support, develop, and implement policies and practices that encourage 21st century skills and respond to the diverse gifts and talents in learners from all cultures, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and socioeconomic groups. Todd County Schools' Gifted and Talented team supports and engages in research and professional development, community outreach, advocacy, communication, and collaboration with all stakeholders to improve the quality of education for all learners. By nurturing potential through challenging, meaningful and respectful learning experiences, we support creative producers, responsible problem solvers and autonomous learners in a global community.
"Gifted and talented children” means those persons between the ages of four and 21 whose abilities, talents, and potential for accomplishment are so exceptional or developmentally advanced that they require special provisions to meet their educational needs. Gifted and talented students are capable of high performance, exceptional production, or exceptional learning behavior by virtue of any or a combination of these areas:
- General or specific intellectual abilities
- Specific academic aptitude
- Creative or productive thinking
- Leadership and human relations ability
- Visual arts, performing arts, spatial or musical abilities
- Psychomotor abilities
Center for Gifted Students - WKU
Located on the Western Kentucky University campus in Bowling Green, Kentucky, The Center for Gifted Studies has been serving children who are gifted and talented, their educators, and their parents for more than thirty-five years. The Center provides exciting educational opportunities for gifted young people, rigorous professional development for teachers, and support for parents of gifted young people. Under the direction of Dr. Julia Roberts, The Center has become one of the preeminent advocates for gifted education in the United States.
